Five years ago this month I began my writing journey on Medium.com. In that time, I have written 256 stories and left three times as many comments. I promoted scores of writers and edited thousands of stories. According to Medium’s stats, my stories have been viewed over 26,000 times and read almost 9,000. More than 1,300 of you have chosen to follow me. This is the stat that I am most proud of because those of you choosing to follow me are interested enough to get reminded whenever I publish new material. I met a ton of amazing people, and even used Medium as a platform to test my book chapters for Win the Day, How to win your battles with stress, anxiety & depression.

I have served as an editor for the ILLUMINATION family of publications with millions of followers and reads every month. I’ve learned a lot as a writer and editor. The biggest lesson was that once you push the publish button, the story does not belong to the writer anymore. It belongs to the readers.

As 2024 came to a close

I asked myself the hard question — Is Medium still serving me? The answer was no.

Rather than go into the reasons why I am choosing to move on, I encourage you to ask yourself from time to time if the things you spend your time on are serving…
